Kathryn began making beads in 2000, after making one-of-a-kind apparel using methods from fibers and surface design. The transition from fiber to glass was seamless, as her passion for color, texture and shape was easily fulfilled with glass as a medium.
Always seeking to keep her work fresh, Kathryn continues to add to her techniques.
A class reignited her interest in copper enameling which led to experimenting and ultimately launched her new work with metal and glass.
All of her pieces are one of a kind, and the signature elements of Kathryn's designs include many layers of glass and metals and the inclusion of murrinis (cross sections of patterned glass canes) and other decorations.
Kathryn is an active member of the Arizona Society of Glass Beadmakers, The International Society of Glass Beadmakers, Sonoran Arts League and Arizona Designer Craftsman.
Kathryn’s work has been published in the winter issues and the 2014 cover of The Flow Magazine, 2014 cover of the Sonoran Arts League Hidden in the Hills catalog, the first featured cover artist of Artisan Jewelry Times January 2015 and Soda Lime Times March 2016 cover and tutorial.
